| Butser Hill Lime Works is a quarry on the edge of Petersfield. It was used to quarry and then process limestone apparent because it has its own (now run down) brick built lime kilns. The site has suffered badly from local youth's wanton destruction and has amassed alot of graffiti. More recently the quarry was a site for an illegal rave in which 2 maintenance buildings at the north side of the site set fire to and burnt down. Many wild flowers grow avidly in the quarry and its the home for many wild animals including deer and many many rabbits! |

| Portsdown Main is an ex Navy establishment built on Portsdown Hill overlooking Portsmouth, the Solent (and on a clear day, the Isle of Wight). It was built in the 1950s in a very Art Deco style, the whole site is approximately 46 acres originally consisting of 32 buildings (but due to some MOD demolition this number has decreased). The site contains a maze of tunnels and underground cellars (the latter presumerably for archive storage). Portsdown Main was closed in January 1997 and the contents moved to HMS Collingwood, since its closure the site has remained unvandalised due to high fences,a regular security presence and fluffy. |

HAA Nelson was a 'Heavy Anti Aircraft' gun emplacement built on Portsdown Hill on land now owned by Monument Farm, it was used to defend Portsmouth from the Luftwaffe. It had a 360 swivel ability to stop the Luftwaffe flying over from the North (after they flew over a less protected coastline). Originally there were 4 gun emplacements with a central HQ bunker in the centre but now only one of the gun emplacements is accessable because 2 are inside the perimeter of a road maintence company and one has been demolished while the centre HQ bunker is flooded and an attempt has been made to seal it (to stop animals falling in). Other buildings onsite include a Nissen hut and various WW2 storage buildings. Visiting these emplacements is not advisable.

The Spike was the vagrants ward of the Guildford Union Workhouse, only a few of these vagrant wards are left and the Spike is most intact. The idea of the Spikes were so vagrants and casual workers had somewhere to stay overnight, If a resident could pay they would be able to stay as long as they could pay for but if a resident couldn't pay they couldn't stay longer than one night (then move onto another Spike) and they would have to earn there keep by doing menial labour like breaking flints or chopping wood. The Spike has been restored by Charlotteville Jubilee Trust using lottery funding and parts have been converted for community and business use. |
